Update: Police Say Man Told His Brother He Killed Man With Bat
A 38-year-old man has been charged with murder in the city’s second homicide of the year.
El Paso Police officers responded to an unknown problem at 6:53 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 in the 400 block of S. Tays.
During the investigation, police found a dead man inside the apartment. Police said Lorenzo Carreon, of the 400 block of S. Tays, had become engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim inside the apartment.
The verbal altercation escalated to a physical altercation where Carreon allegedly struck the victim with a bat, causing the death of the deceased. The victim has not been identified at this time.
According to a police report, Carreon told his brother that he killed somebody inside his apartment with a bat and there was blood all over the walls. The next day, Carreon’s brother and other family members went to Carreon’s apartment and saw the body lying on the kitchen floor.
Carreon was charged with Murder and booked into the El Paso County Jail on bonds totaling $75,000. This investigation continues.
