NAMIWalks El Paso draws over 1,000 participants for mental health awareness
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso’s annual NAMIWalks event brought more than 1,000 people to Ascarate Park, making it one of the city’s largest gatherings for mental health awareness.
Participants came together on a cool day, many with workout gear and even their dogs, to take part in the walk aimed at breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.
NAMI El Paso has been organizing the event since 2013, and it continues to grow, raising awareness and providing resources for those impacted by mental health challenges.
This year’s event featured over 98 teams and numerous booths, offering information and support for attendees.
Participants shared personal stories of why they walked, from their own mental health journeys to supporting loved ones.
The event highlighted the importance of open conversations about mental wellness, with many expressing hope for greater understanding and support in the community.
