UMC Foundation of El Paso receives prestigious grant

UMC Foundation

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - The University Medical Center Foundation of El Paso received a $15,000 grant from the Plastic Surgery Foundation.

The Breast Reconstruction Awareness Fund Charitable Care grant will help the foundation provide critical support for those El Paso women who were diagnosed with breast cancer and are currently undergoing breast reconstruction surgery.

The funding is administered through UMC's Infusion Center for Hope and Healing helping women as they navigate their recovery journey.

It helps to bridge the gaps in medical care by covering patient's treatment expenses not covered by their medical insurance like out-of-pocket deductibles, co-pays, and other post-surgical needs.

The funding helps women access pain management pumps, specialized post surgery garments, and also with any travel expenses they make for their treatment procedures.

The Foundation says this grant aligns with their efforts to enhance cancer care services in the borderland.
