Local high school runners qualify for state cross country meet

EL PASO. Texas - It's been a busy couple of days in Lubbock, TX as several El Paso area runners advanced to the UIL state cross country meet.

The UIL state cross country meet will be on November 1-2 in Round Rock, TX.

Lubbock was the host city for the UIL Region 1 cross country meet.

The Eastwood boys cross country team finished in second place of the 6A cross country meet right behind first place Southlake Carroll.

The Troopers will move on to the state competition next month.

In Class 5A, the Burges boys cross country team also qualified for state after they placed 4th at the regional meet.

Several other runners from the El Paso area qualified as individual runners and will look to bring home a medal at next month's state competition.

The state qualifiers are as follows:

6A BOYS

Eastwood boys cross country team, finished 2nd as a team

6A GIRLS

 Adelynn Rodriguez, Eastwood High School, finished 6th

 Emily Orr, Franklin High School, finished 7th

5A BOYS

Burges boys cross country team, finished 4th as a team

Diego Romero, Americas High School, finished 1st

Miles Westbrook, El Paso High School, finished 2nd

Braulio Torres, Chapin High School, finished 9th

5A GIRLS

Lexee Salas, Americas High School, finished 10th

Rebecca Duran, Chapin High School, finished 15th

Jocelynne Diaz-Torres , Chapin High School, finished 18th

4A BOYS

Antonio Arreola, San Elizario High School, finished 4th

Pedro Jimenez, Austin High School, finished 10th

Eirik Arredondo, Austin High School, finished 13th

4A GIRLS 

Alexia Martinez, Fabens High School, finished 6th
