Update: Woman’s Stolen Puppies Returned Home

A woman’s home was robbed Tuesday. Her electronics and other items worth thousands of dollars were taken.

Cindy Gates said she didn’t care about the material items, she just wanted her two boxer puppies returned. She was offering a $1,000 reward for their return.

Gates told ABC-7 Friday a woman called to inform her she might have Gates’ two puppies.

Gates confirmed they were her puppies who are now back home. She also said investigators got a hit off the fingerprints taken from her house.

Meanwhile, wires and empty space stand where the television and computer once did.

She said she and her roommate were at work when someone broke into their home through the living room window.

Their cat Sammie was the only one home at the time.

“The electronic part I can replace, but not my dogs. That’s the only thing I want back is my dogs,” said Gates.

One month old Flex and Laila were gifts. “She’s brindle, tiger stripe and the other one is regular brown. He has distinct green eyes that stand out. I’ve had them since they were 3 weeks old. I actually gave them a bottle – they actually – they recognize me. They would follow me around. They do follow me around,” she said.

Gates told ABC-7 the purpose of the dogs was to protect the family from situations like this.

El Paso police investigators said they haven’t seen a noticeable increase in stolen puppies lately.
