Police: Stop Sign Violation Leads To Felony DWI Charge
A 56-year-old man was arrested earlier this month on a felony DWI charge after he allegedly ran a stop sign, according to El Paso Police.
On Jan. 15, 2011 at 10:51 p.m., police officer observed the vehicle traveling northbound on Pendale in the city’s Mission Valley region. The vehicle, described as a 1998 Chevrolet Suburban, allegedly failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Pendale and Kastrin. The officer’s investigation, which included Field Sobriety Testing, led to the arrest of Arturo Guzman, 9200 block of Grenoble, for his third DWI.
Guzman was previously convicted of DWI in 1999 and 2007. Guzman was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on one charge of Driving While Intoxicated 3 or more offenses (Felony). His bond was set at: $2500.00
The El Paso Police Department would like to remind the public that alcohol is a suspected contributing factor in at least half of the fatal crashes that have occurred on El Paso roadways this year.
El Paso Police have increased DWI enforcement in collaboration with all law enforcement in the region to increase DWI enforcement in the hopes of decreasing traffic-related deaths.
