EPCC Reverses Decision to Reopen

El Paso, Texas — Officials at El Paso Community College have reversed a decision to reopen Friday. It will now remain closed.

Schools have been closed since Wednesday, after freezing temps and snow from a winter storm. Though the weather is clearing up, most districts and schools have announced plans to remain closed due to power restrictions. All eight of El Paso Electric’s local power generators are down and the company is asking schools, businesses, offices and residents to curtail energy use.

UTEP will remain closed. NMSU and Dona Ana Community College have not announced a decision.
