Police identify the teen they say killed 4 family members, including 2 minors

UPDATE: New Mexico State Police identified the four victims in Saturday's quadruple murder as 42-year-old Leonardo Leyva, 35-year-old Adriana Bencomo, 16-year-old Adrian Leyva, and 14-year-old Alexander Leyva.

According to police reports all four victims died from their gunshot wounds.

Diego Leyva, 16, was medically cleared and released from the hospital and taken into the Juvenile Justice Center in Albuquerque early Sunday morning. He is facing four open counts of first-degree murder.

Update: New Mexico State Police have identified 16-year-old Diego Leyva as the suspect in a quadruple homicide in Belen, New Mexico.

NMSP says 16-year-old Diego Leyva called 911 around 3:30 a.m. Saturday and told the dispatcher he had killed his family.

Leyva was found "extremely intoxicated" and complied with deputies, who took him into custody.

Deputies found four people dead when they entered the home. They also found a handgun on the kitchen table.

Leyva has been charged with four open counts of first-degree murder and is being held at an area hospital for detox.

NMSP says they are continuing to investigate the details of what led up to the killings.

BELEN, New Mexico (KVIA) - New Mexico State Police are investigating a quadruple homicide in a residence in Belen, New Mexico.

It happened Saturday around noon on Camino Escondido. Belen is about a half hour south of Albuquerque, and over three hours north of El Paso.

Police investigators say four victims were found dead, and add they have a 16-year-old boy in custody.

The investigation is ongoing, this story will be updated on-air and online as information becomes available.
