Suspected Drunken Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing Outside LC Bar
A motorcyclist believed to be intoxicated died after he sped toward the Hurricane Alley bar and crashed into a pole in the parking lot early Sunday, police said.
Jesus Castro-Roman, who was not wearing a helmet when he lost control of his 2011 Harley Davidson, was seen speeding in the parking lot shortly after 12:30 a.m., police said.
Police said Castro-Roman refused offers for a taxi and said he would walk home, but instead got on his motorcycle after he was asked to leave the bar at 1490 E. Missouri Ave.
The 31-year-old was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
Police said the motorcycle had a temporary license plate, indicating that it was a new purchase. Castro-Roman had a valid Texas driver’s license but did not have a motorcycle endorsement that is required to operate a motorcycle with over 50cc.
