East El Paso Neighborhood Deals With Wednesday Storm’s Aftermath
Jessica Camacho was astounded and frightened by the sheer strength of Wednesday afternoon’s storm.
“It was so bad we couldn’t even see 5 feet in front of us,” said Camacho at her east El Paso apartment. Camacho’s home is in a group of apartment units on Campestre Lane just off Vista del Sol in east El Paso.
The roof in her neighbor’s apartment blew off during the storm, breaking into a pile of splintered wood and scattered shingles. Heavy winds also sent an air conditioning unit barreling through the air.
“My boyfriend was walking out to leave for his lunch break. He opened the door, and there’s an AC in the air,” said Camacho. “He ducked and it hit the building right in front of us, and we just see roof following behind it.”
None of the families in the area were hurt. The Fire Department walked through all the units and said they were safe for families to spend the night.
