Reporter | Overnight Producer | Weekend Morning Anchor
Posting Date: August 24, 2011 Location: KVIA TV (El Paso, TX) Position: Reporter/Overnight Producer/Weekend Morning Anchor
We?re looking for an articulate anchor/reporter with good camera presence and a firm grasp of current events to co-anchor our weekend morning newscasts. This position requires you to work overnight on weekends producing the newscast. You would usually work as a reporter the other three days each week.
KVIA doesn?t have a strict experience requirement for this position, but we?re looking for someone with strong news judgment and solid writing skills. You must be able to multitask, as you will be responsible for the Assignment Desk during the overnight shift, too. You have to be able to get news covered, get it on the air, and maintain a smooth delivery.
Spanish proficiency is not required, but it?s a big plus in this border city. El Paso is the 19th largest city in the U.S. This is a very competitive news market and for that reason, we have to maximize our resources and have everyone on our staff capable of performing many functions. While we do have an experienced photography staff, the candidate we choose should be able to shoot and edit his or her own material.
We are a very progressive station that?s not afraid to try new technology to enhance our product. We often send crews out of town to cover relevant news for our market, and we rely on FTP and broadband lives to get the stories back home. KVIA is the longtime ratings leader in El Paso. We do five hours of news a day and have a strong website (you should check out our product at kvia.com). Please send a cover letter explaining why you are the best fit for our award-winning newsroom, along with a resume and DVD, or a link to where we can view them. Please include your salary requirements. You may send all of the above to jobs@kvia.com. We?ll be moving fast to hire for this position. Good luck!
