Cirque De La Symphonie Comes To El Paso
The El Paso Symphony Orchestra is known for its talented musicians. For one night only, El Pasoans can enjoy not only the finest classical music, but the circus as well.
Cirque de la Symphonie joins the local orchestra with international circus performers for a truly unique and amazing experience that everyone can appreciate.
“We’re not only producing something new for the symphony world but also we’re helping to recruit younger adults into the audience,” said aerialist Alexander Streltsov.
The performance includes jugglers, contortionists and even high-flying aerial acts, all synced to classical music from favorites like Swan Lake and even Disney movies.
The aerialists said having a live orchestra playing feet from their performance adds a whole new dimension to the show.
“When you’re on the stage there an you feel the orchestra playing and the music just basically blows through your body into the audience, it gives you such an adrenalin rush that you start to perform even more than you thought you were capable of,” said Streltsov.
After watching the performers rehearse, ABC-7’s own Jennifer Myers was invited to learn a few stunts and tricks.
“It was a lot harder than it looked,” Myers said. “The performers are so graceful and make everything look so effortless, but when you’re up there hanging above the stage upside down, it’s pretty challenging.”
The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Plaza Theatre in downtown El Paso. Tickets start at $35.
Tickets are available through the El Paso Symphony Orchestra at (915) 532-3776, as well as online at www.epso.org, or through the Ticketmaster outlet at www.ticketmaster.com and can also be purchased at the Plaza Theatre box office.
