Steve Jobs’ Fans Make Memorial At El Paso Apple Store
The death of Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs has sent waves across the nation, from a statement issued by President Barack Obama to anyone who has owned an iPod.
Jobs died of pancreatic cancer on Wednesday.
Apple stores around the globe have become small makeshift memorials as fans pay homage to the technological icon.
“People really appreciate him a lot, and what he’s done,” said Apple fan Jessica Ramos.
A pad of Post-It notes and a pen were placed outside the Cielo Vista Apple store for fans to leave messages stuck to the store’s facade.
ABC-7 spoke with El Pasoan Osman Aysu, who said Jobs wasn’t just a businessman, he was an inspiration. When asked about what Jobs has meant to his life, he recited one of his favorite quotes.
“It doesn’t matter what points you have in your life. The point is how you connect them. If you’re accomplished enough to connect them, you are the man. You can do whatever you want,” said Osman Aysu.
Aysu said he watched a graduation speech given by Jobs a few years ago, a speech that inspired him to get his master of business administration degree.
“When I hear he passed away, it’s really got me,” said Aysu.
Many of the notes left at the memorial thanked Jobs for his contributions to people’s everyday lives and expressed how much he would be missed.
Jobs was well-known for his creation of the iPod and the iPad, but he also had his hands in other areas of the entertainment industry.
Jobs turned a dying animation company into Pixar, which he eventually sold to Disney for $7.4 billion.
During a time when the music industry was taking a huge hit from illegal downloading, he created iTunes, which changed the way people purchase and listen to music.
