Vandals Who Damaged Trucks, Office At Wyler Aerial Tramway Still Sought
Police continue looking for the vandals who ransacked an office and a maintenance room at the Wyler Aerial Tramway headquarters and broke the windows of state vehicles parked outside.
The vandalism, which occurred sometime between 6:30 p.m. Oct. 9 and 7:45 a.m. Oct. 10 at 1700 McKinley Ave., is the subject of Crime Stoppers of El Paso’s “Crime of the Week.” Investigators believe that two or three young Hispanic men may be responsible for the crime, which caused more thant $5,000 in damage.
Police said the vandals broke into the Wyler Aerial Tramway, which is in Franklin Mountains State Park, and broke the windows and side-view mirrors on three state vehicles. They also took fire extinguishers from the vehicles and discharged them inside, leaving behind a thick yellow powder all over the vehicle interiors.
The vandals also broke into the maintenance shop and ransacked the interior, throwing cleaning products onto the floor. An office in the maintenance shop was also ransacked.
