El Paso Police arrest group they dubbed ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ robbers

Wearing dark sunglasses, surgical masks and armed with a bb gun, El Paso Police said a gang they call the “Bonnie and Clyde robbers” hit several cash stores.

The El Paso Police Department arrested five people allegedly involved in a series of robberies that began on July 3, 2012.

The ongoing investigation by police led to the five being located at a check cashing business in the 1400 block of Lee Trevino that they were allegedly attempting to rob at that time.

The five were taken into custody without incident.

At this time Ambrose Robert Gasca and Kassandra Ramirez have been charged with six counts of Aggravated Robbery(1st Degree Felony) and one count of Criminal Attempt Aggravated Robbery(2nd Degree Felony). Leticia Ortiz was charged with 4 counts of Aggravated Robbery and one count of Criminal Attempt Aggravated Robbery.

Hector Vizcaino and Daniel Acuna were charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery and one count of Criminal Attempt Aggravated Robbery. Vizcaino and Ramirez were also charged with Abandon or Endangering Child as they had left a 1-month-old infant in a car while allegedly attempting to commit the robbery.

According to court documents obtained by ABC-7, surveillance video from July 17 shows a man at Chelmont Finance looking around before returning 10 minutes later with a bb gun and a woman.

The man allegedly demanded money from the two women while the woman waits, holding open the door.

Authorities identified two of the alleged robbers arrested monday.

They are 38-year-old Ortiz and 20-year-old Ramirez.

Both allegedly admitted to having a role in the July 17 robbery, according to court documents.

The child was turned over to a relative. The investigation continues and booking photos will not be available until the investigation permits.
