Affidavit reveals details of deadly shooting in northeast El Paso
An act of retaliation could be a motive for shooting death of 18-year-old Christian Duran, according to an arrest affidavit from El Paso Police investigators.
18-year-old William Estrada was arrested and charged with his murder.
He is charged with organized criminal activity/murder and is being held on a $250,000 bond at the El Paso County Jail.
The shooting happened January 28 on the 5000 block of Debeers in Northeast El Paso.
According to the affidavit, Christian Duran was a member of the gang ‘Sureos 13’ and allegedly stabbed Jose Mendez.
Mendez is a member of a rival gang “Los Midnight Locos.”
Estrada, also a member of “Los Midnight Locos,” went after Duran and he was not alone.
Benjamin Bafun and a third person were also in the car with Estrada.
In a written statement, Bafun said they circled Duran’s house several times until he came out and got in his car.
Estrada allegedly walked up to Duran’s car and shot him.
They took off and drove to Vinton, where Estrada removed his clothing and burned it.
Investigators said the remnants of the clothing were found.
Court documents state that two other witnesses came forward and their stories are consistent with what Bafun told investigators.
El Paso Police are still investigating and are looking for anyone with more information.
