Multi-vehicle wreck shuts down I-10
Police are warning motorists to avoid I-10 Saturday morning, specifically people who frequent the eastbound lanes.
Numerous wrecks popped up throughout El Paso late Friday night and early Saturday morning, after rain soaked the Borderland.
The worst incident was in east El Paso near Hawkins.
According to police, nine cars were involved in a wreck on the eastbound lanes of I-10. ABC-7 is still seeking additional details, however, police have confirmed that a minivan was T-boned during that pile-up.
According to police, one man whose vehicle was involved in the collision stepped out of his car and was hit by another vehicle. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Currently I-10’s eastbound lanes have been shut down, and are expected to remain that way until at least noon.
ABC-7 has also learned that an alleged drunk driver hit a patrol unit while at the scene. The officer did not suffer any injuries but the driver asked for medical attention.
