Update: Man killed in Lower Valley motorcycle wreck identified
A 29-year-old man killed in an overnight collision has been identified.
El Paso Police Special Traffic Investigations Unit (STI) responded to the 500 block of S. Yarbrough to assist Mission Valley Patrol with a single vehicle/motorcycle traffic fatality at 12:34 a.m. Friday.
The preliminary investigation revealed Raul Reyes Jr. was driving a 2005 Yamaha GSR motorcycle north on S. Yarbrough when his motorcycle struck the raised center median and he became separated from the motorcycle and struck the ground.
Reyes died at the scene as a result of the injuries he sustained. STI investigators have identified speed as a factor in this fatal motorcycle collision. Reyes was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
This is the first traffic fatality and first motorcycle fatality of 2013.
