Anthony, Texas Mayor Art Franco decides not to resign after all
Art Franco is still the mayor of Anthony, Texas despite his attorney saying he would resign at Tuesday night’s meeting after pleading guilty to a state charge last week.
Franco pleaded guilty last week in district court to tampering with government records and was sentenced to three years probation. He was charged after he understated a town employee’s salary on a form for subsidized housing purposes in 2010.
Franco was re-elected as mayor on Saturday after running unopposed.
He did not answer ABC-7’s questions after Tuesday night’s meeting.
