‘Dawgs are champs: Las Cruces defeats Mayfield in state 5-A title game
Back-to-back champions.
The Las Cruces High School Football team won the New Mexico state 5-A title beating its bitter, cross-town rival Mayfield.
The Bulldawgs beat the Trojans, 27-26, in sub-freezing conditions Saturday afternoon at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces.
The two met just week prior for the district title, which Mayfield won.
