2-year anniversary of death of Idaly Reyes and Kimberly Araujo
Saturday is the two-year- anniversary of a drunk-driving crash that killed two young El Paso women.
Idaly Reyes and Kimberly Araujo died after the car they were in burst into flames.That tragic night 23-year-old Kimberly Araujo left behind a three-year-old daughter.
Idaly Reyes who was also in the car was only 19.This is video of the scene after that wreck the night of December 28, 2011.The car went down a 20-foot embankment and ended up crashing into the building and catching fire.
It wasn’t until daylight that everyone was able to see the mangled car burnt to the point that it didn’t have any paint.Idaly and Kimberly seen here died at the scene.
And it was all after a night of partying.
The man behind the wheel, Miguel Vargas, seen hear at his court hearing last year.
Police said Vargas’ blood level was three times the legal limit.Vargas was sentenced to 16 years in prison in October of 2012.The TABC has also been investigating the Marco Polo bar.But they couldn’t completely move forward with the investigation until Vargas was sentenced.
ABC-7 is told they do have evidence the bar over-served Vargas that night and served Reyes who was only 19-years-old at the time.
