Man charged in death outside Central bar

Daniel Chavez, 29, of the 3300 block of Pierce, has been charged with criminal negligent homicide in the death of a 55-year-old man.

According to El Paso Police, Chavez was standing by a doorway at the Rods Sports Bar and Lounge on July 6 as Frescas and two others exited the bar. Chavez turned around and pushed Frescas causing him to fall to the ground, police said.

Frescas hit his head on the concrete floor when he fell and never regained consciousness. He died on July 8.

Chavez was booked into the El Paso County Jail under a $100,000.
