Man arrested after trail of allegedly stolen merchandise leads to where he’s hiding
Doa Ana County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Las Cruces man Tuesday morning after he allegedly broke into a convenience store and attempted to steal merchandise.
Just after 2 a.m., deputies and a sheriff’s investigator were called to the 200 block of E. Union after neighbors reported hearing the sound of breaking glass. Law enforcement arrived and saw a trail of merchandise scattered across the roadway that led to an apartment in the 3300 block of S. Main.
Deputies entered the apartment where 20-year-old Daniel Garcia was found hiding under a bed.
Investigators saw several cuts on Garcia’s arms which were consistent with injuries caused from broken glass, according to deputies.
Garcia was booked into the Doa Ana County Detention Center, charged with one felony count of non-residential burglary and larceny under $250. His bond was set at $8,000 cash.
