Construction worker killed in traffic accident Wednesday identified
Texas Concrete and Asphalt have identified their employee who died Thursday after being hit Wednesday night while doing construction work on I-10 in West El Paso.
“On behalf of Texas Concrete and Asphalt, we would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Jose Anguiano who lost his life early Thursday morning, August 23, 2012. He will be greatly missed not only as an employee, but also as a friend, and extended member of The Texas Concrete and Asphalt family,” company officials said in a statement.
El Paso Police said a van hit a smaller vehicle, a Ford Focus, and caused it to swerve into the I-10 eastbound lanes and hit Anguiano. The section of road was narrowed to one lane prior to the crash for that construction.
Anguiano was pinned against a heavy piece of machinery. It happened near the east I-10 Artcraft exit.
“We would like to express to all communities the importance of being alert and aware while driving through these construction zones in all areas. Please adhere to all traffic control warnings signs and work crews that are building and maintaining our community to avoid any further loss of life,” Texas Concrete & Asphalt, Inc. said in its statement.
