Alleged cartel member’s daughter pleads guilty
The teen daughter of a suspected Juarez Cartel member pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges last week.
Federal agents say Crystal Romero and her husband, Gerardo Olivas, were stopped in Marfa — traveling with $40,000 in cash.
Federal court affidavits state that Olivas said his wife had nothing to do with the money but he would not answer any more questions.
Federal agents say Romero told them she knew her husband was “involved in narcotics trafficking and that she was transporting the proceeds back to Mexico.
The said she told them “the money was supposed to be given to her father.”
Romero is facing life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced in April.
