City Council approves three-year lease of Fall Mansion for $1 a year

City Council voted 7-0 on Tuesday to approve a three year lease of the city-owned Fall Mansion to Texas Tech Health Sciences Center for one dollar a year.

City Rep. Cortney Niland abstained from the vote. The lease will also include two one-year extension options.

Texas Tech Health Sciences Center intends to use the Fall Mansion, which the city paid $650,000 to obtain and another $1.2 million to renovate, for administrative offices and receptions. Texas Tech will be responsible for all utilities and maintenance during the terms of the lease.
