Teen in critical condition after falling off car

El Paso Police Department investigators were called to a far east El Paso neighborhood Monday night after a teenager fell off a car.

It happened Monday night on the 14000 block of Jason Crandall.

Officer were dispatched just after 9 p.m. where a teenage boy was found with head injuries.

Witnesses said the boy was riding on top of a car when it came to a sudden stop and he was thrown off. Police described it as him “surfing” atop the car.

They also said he was bleeding from his ears and head. Another witness said he was also convulsing after hitting the street.

It’s unclear how fast the car was going or if that driver will face charges.

The teen, identified by police as Jose Alonso Perez of the 3600 block of Tierra Inca, was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition.

Police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
