Update: Rides suspended after 2 teens injured on carnival ride at St. Anthony’s Bazaar

All rides at St. Anthony’s Bazaar have been suspended for today after Sunday’s incident when two teens fell out of a carnival ride and several feet to the ground.

The rest of the bazaar will be open and running as scheduled.

A St. Anthony’s Seminary official, which hosts the bazaar, told ABC-7 that they also will evaluate if they will have the rides in the future.

A door opened while the carnival ride “Sidewinder” was spinning, causing the two teens inside to fall out, according to El Paso Police.

The incident occurred at about 10:09 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Bazaar in Central El Paso.

The teens – a 13-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy – were transported to University Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

Police say the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and the police department’s Crimes Against Children Unit responded to assist in the investigation.

No charges have been filed at this time and the incident is still being investigated.

St. Anthony’s Bazaar is an annual event many in the community that many look forward to attending.
