Opposing Immigration Viewpoints Collide

A pro-immigration group, Sante Fe based Somos Un Pueblo Unido, marched about a mile from an Artesia, N.M. park to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Organizers said FLETC houses 600 women and children from Central America and South America who are awaiting either asylum or deportation. Somos was met by their opposition; a group called, “Standing For Americans.” The groups converged at FLETC at around 2 p.m. Sunday. The pro-immigration group read a letter from a lawyer that was allegedly sneaked past guards, describing conditions inside of the FLETC detainment quarters as less than favorable.
