Woman arrested for allegedly head-butting Las Cruces police officer

Las Cruces Police have arrested a woman who allegedly headbutted an officer on Aug. 16.

Rebecca Hoggan, 33, is charged with one count each of battery upon a peace officer and assault upon a peace officer.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Aug. 16, Las Cruces Police were sent to assist on a medical call at the Pic Quik store at 825 Avenida De Mesilla.

Police say Hoggan, the subject of the medical call, became visibly agitated and requested to be handcuffed.

Police say Hoggan yelled profanities at the officer and then allegedlyl head-butted the officer’s right cheek.

Hoggan then spat at the two officers, according to police.

Neither officer was seriously injured during the incident.

Hoggan was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000.
