Providence Memorial Hospital CEO posts message on website about TB exposure at hospital

A message from Eric Evans, market CEO of Sierra Providence Health Network and CEO of Providence Memorial Hospital

As a father, a member of the greater El Paso community and as the chief executive officer of Providence Memorial Hospital, I share your concern at the recent news that one of our patient care techs in the well-baby nursery and post-partum unit was experiencing symptoms consistent with active tuberculosis (TB). As a trusted care provider, we take our obligations to our patients, employees and the community very seriously.

We continue to work closely with the El Paso Department of Public Health, other clinical experts and community leaders to ensure that affected patients receive screening and any necessary treatment as quickly as possible at absolutely no cost to them.

Most importantly, we want to make sure that we do all that we can to maintain the confidence of our patients and to continue providing the quality care that has been our legacy in the community for more than 60 years. We have implemented several new and enhanced actions, and we are working collaboratively with state and federal health authorities to demonstrate the effectiveness of these actions. Once our regulatory partners have had an opportunity to review and accept our plans, we will make the plans available on the “update” page of this site.

We know that you place a sacred trust in us when you come to our hospitals for care, and we will not rest until we have done all that we can to restore that trust.

Sincerely,

Eric Evans
