Rumors circulate that Islamic militants are planning attacks in El Paso
Rumors are circulating on the internet that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, also known as “ISIS,” has militants in Juarez planning attacks in El Paso.
The information was first reported by judicial watch, citing unnamed federal sources, then picked up by other online publications, including the national review. A federal law enforcement source familiar with border security tells ABC-7 it is “unverified and unlikely” that ISIS is in Juarez.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson also said yesterday there is no specific, credible threat to the U.S. homeland from the terrorist organization.
