FBI: Dead border agent found in South Texas suspected in kidnapping, assault of 3 women
The FBI says it believes a Border Patrol agent found dead in South Texas is responsible for the kidnapping and assault of three women who were in the country illegally.
An FBI spokeswoman in San Antonio, Michelle Lee, says the agency has investigated and believes that the agent, who was found dead in his home, is “the person responsible for the kidnappings and the assault of all three of them.”
She did not elaborate. Border Patrol spokesman Danny Tirado later identified the agent as Esteban Manzanares.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection says authorities encountered an injured woman Thursday night who said she and two others had been attacked by a man. Authorities later found the second injured female. The third female was found at the agent’s home in Mission.
According to the (McAllen) Monitor, Manzanarez committed suicide. The article goes into greater detail of the crimes he allegedly committed.
