Las Cruces Crimestoppers seek help in finding teens involved in stabbing

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that helps identify the suspects in a Thursday evening stabbing that sent a man to the hospital.

Just after 8:30 p.m. April 10, Las Cruces Police were sent to the 4200 block of Broadview where a 19-year-old man was suffering from at least one stab wound. Police did not release the victim’s name.

The man, whose injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, was given first aid at the scene and was then airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso.

Police say that the man and his wife were driving home the night of April 10 when they were accosted by a group of young men, possibly teenagers, who threw something at their vehicle. The 19-year-old stopped the vehicle and confronted the boys.

Witnesses told police that a fight broke out and the 19-year-old man was stabbed.

There were two-to-five suspects, all described as teenagers. Police say they appeared to be Hispanic, approximately 5-foot-3-inches to 5-feet-5-inches tall and thin.

One of the suspects was believed to be wearing a short-sleeve blue and white flannel shirt. Another was wearing a white, long-sleeve hooded sweatshirt with a symbol across the chest. Another suspect was believed to have a spiked haircut and was wearing a white shirt.
