City Rep. Eddie Holguin reflects on his legacy on City Council
As Eddie Holguin Jr.’s tenure as a City Council member nears its end, he reflects on his legacy from his time on council.
“I fought for my district’s fair share,” Holguin told ABC-7.
Holguin’s last official day in office will be Tuesday, when Claudia Ordaz, the woman elected to serve the remainder of his term, is sworn in.
Holguin participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday morning for two new competitive size soccer fields at Blackie Chesher Park in far East El Paso.
While at the park Holguin took the time score a goal and receive cheers from those at the ceremony.
“I am extremely proud to say that during the last nine-and-a-half years I’ve been on council, we’ve invested, the city has invested, the most money it has ever invested in District 6 history – in parks, in streets, in roads, in infrastructure,” Holguin told ABC-7. “It’s truly been very rewarding to bring District 6 up to par with other parts of town.”
Holguin says he does not regret giving up his seat to run for county judge in the Democratic primary in March. He lost in the primary.
Holguin says he doesn’t plan to run for public office again and is looking forward to spending more time with his family.
