Eastwood High School relocates some classes due to sagging ceilings

Eighteen classrooms at Eastwood High School had to be relocated Wednesday as a precaution after lights in one classroom fell.

The classes were relocated to the two gyms and library as a precautionary measure while the classes in that area of the school were examined.

It turned out three classrooms had sagging ceilings and are being repaired, including the class where the lights fell.

Ysleta Independent School District spokeswoman Patricia Ayala said the repairs are expected to be completed by Friday instead of Monday as originally thought.

The three classes will be meeting in empty classrooms until then.

Parents were notified by a phone call and also with a letter sent home.
