Steel Supply Company Expanding to El Paso, Plans to Invest $3 Million
Douglas Steel Supply announced it is expanding its steel service centers to a new facility in the Sun City.
The company hopes to create 55 new positions and invest $3 million in our region over the next five years.
“We continue on our mission to attract new businesses and investments to the community, create competitive jobs and grow our economy,” said El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser, “This is a company that is bringing something unique to El Paso that we currently don’t have here. It opens a lot of doors.”
Douglas steel has facilities in Arizona, Idaho and headquarters in California. It processes mill flat sheet, slit coils and blanking used in various industries.
“We are attracting diverse businesses and investors to the Borderplex region and this will only make us more attractive to the global business community,” said Rolando Pablos, CEO of The Borderplex Alliance. It played a key role in helping bring Douglas Steel to El Paso, according to city officials.
Roger Seaman, Vice President of Operations for Douglas Steel Supply, said he is looking forward to operating in our region.
“Besides the wonderful people and the great Mexican food, we selected El Paso because it is a major trade corridor with Mexico with a very well developed infrastructure,” said Seaman.
El Paso City Council has to sign off an agreement with Douglas during next week’s council meeting.
According to Seaman, the company plans to set up shop in the Butterfield Trail Industrial Park.
