Fire destroys home, faulty heater suspected

A mobile home has been completely destroyed after it caught fire. Fire officials suspect it was because of a faulty heater.

It happened before 3:30 a.m. Thursday on the 1500 block of Westbourne in Clint. Sheriff’s officials originally told ABC-7 a person was hospitalized from burns.

The father of the family was injured, but it was from lacerations he suffered after punching through a window to alarm his family, not from burn wounds as originally thought.

Officials say the man refused treatment.

The mobile home is considered a total loss, along with at least 2 vehicles. Damage is estimated at $60,000.
