UMC Hosts First-Ever Stroke Support Summit in El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA-TV) -- Stroke survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and community members will come together this weekend for UMC's first-ever Stroke Support Summit. The event is designed to provide education, inspiration, and recovery resources for those impacted by stroke.

According to event organizers, the summit will feature expert-led educational sessions, patient testimonials, and information to help stroke survivors and their families navigate recovery and long-term support.

One of the featured speakers is Maggie Whitum, a stroke survivor who experienced a stroke at just 33 years old. Organizers describe her journey as a remarkable story of resilience and recovery, and her keynote address is expected to inspire attendees.

The summit will also give survivors and caregivers a chance to connect with healthcare professionals and others who have faced similar challenges. Organizers say the event focuses on building a stronger support network while increasing awareness of stroke recovery and available community resources.

The Stroke Support Summit will take place Saturday, Oct. 31. Additional information is available through the UMC Foundation.
