Police search for armed man who robbed store inside Las Cruces Mall

Las Cruces Police are searching for an armed person who robbed the Courthouse Boutique store inside the Mesilla Valley Mall.

There is an active search for suspect right now.

A store employee told police the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the register. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled from the store. No injuries were reported.

Police believe the armed robbery occurred shortly before 4 p.m.

The suspect is said to be Hispanic, possibly in his mid-30s, approximately 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighs anywhere between 130 to 180 pounds. He is said to have a dark complexion, and has a goatee and mustache. He was wearing a dark colored hoodie and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to contact police immediately.

An ABC-7 news crew on the scene could see lots of people evacuated to the outside. and fire and police personnel on the scene blocking entrance and exit ramps out of the mall.

There also is a heavy law enforcement presence on the northside of the mall, near the Barnes and Noble and Sears locations.
