Police: El Paso teen masqueraded as child in porn case in Hurst, Texas
Two men have been arrested in a suburban North Texas child porn case, including a 17-year-old man police say enrolled in an elementary school posing as a 12-year-old.
Hurst police say 28-year-old Randy Ray Wesson is jailed on $3 million charged with promoting and selling child pornography and tampering with an official record. Also, 17-year-old Ricardo Javid Lugo is jailed on $250,000 bond charged with possessing child pornography.
A police statement says Lugo was enrolled as a 12-year-old in the 6th grade at Hurst Hills Elementary School. Detectives say that enrollment was supported by bogus documents presented to the school.
Police Sgt. Craig Teague says the two apparently have not hired attorneys yet.
Detectives are asking parents to report any contact with the pair.
A Fort Worth Star-Telegram report states Wesson told police he met Lugo on Instagram several months ago and drove to El Paso to pick up Logo at the end of February or beginning of March.
Wesson told police he’s had a sexual relationship with Lugo since then, according to the article.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram article, Wesson’s father told Hurst detectives that Wesson was living in Fort Worth with a 12-year-old boy he claimed was his son, according to the affidavit. Wesson introduced Lugo to his father as his son in February, stating he picked him up from El Paso because his mother didn’t want him, according to the affidavit. On Friday, Nov. 21, Homeland Security Investigation transferred Wesson into Federal Custody.
The cases relating to are being turned over to the US Attorney for federal prosecution, according to Hurst Police.
Hurst Police will continue its investigation to identify individual victims. Cases will be worked with any identified victims and presented for prosecution.
