Kern Place residents fear neighbor killing puppies
El Paso Police are investigating concerns from Kern Place residents who fear one of their neighbors is killing and torturing puppies.
ABC-7 is not revealing the suspected neighbor’s name because he has not been charged. Police on Thursday said they are investigating the individual.
A group of residents spoke to ABC-7 but did not want their names revealed for fear of retaliation. They said the neighbor has had at least twelve puppies in the last few months. The puppies disappear, or in the case of two of them, are found dead, according to neighbors.
Loretta Hyde, founder of the Animal Rescue League said the residents turned in videos and pictures that show the man choking a puppy, pulling it’s collar, throwing a puppy into what appears to be a ceiling fan and squeezing the dog.
She said one of the residents began taking photos and videos a few months back when Hyde advised the residents they needed proof to report their suspicions.
“You hear horrible screams of animals being brutalized in the night. We as a neighborhood feel very strongly that he is torturing and killing these dogs,” said one neighbor.
The pictures show a decomposed puppy and what appears to be another puppy in a plastic bag inside a dumpster.
“We get the video. We put it in the computer we watch it and I am floored, just devastated. That nothing has happened,” said Hyde.
