Near-record heat possible for the Borderland
A ridge of high pressure continues to strengthen over the southwest.
As a result of the ridge axis nearly centering over the Borderland, temperatures are expected to soar through the weekend.
The forecast high temperature Saturday and Sunday is 88 degrees.
Both days are set to tie a record for heat.
Saturday’s record is currently set at 88, which was hit back in 1967.
Sunday’s record is also at 88, set back in 1943.
These temperatures are well above average for this time in the year. The average time to hit 88 degrees is May 15. Saturday’s average temperature is actually 73 degrees.
