One step closer to final design of Eastside Regional Park
The Eastside Regional Park is still in its planning stages before a final design is approved by city council, but its one step closer.
Wednesday night, residents will be able to offer more input as city officials present a revised masterplan. The masterplan is expected to go through several revisions before it goes to city council.
Since the announcement of the 92-acre park, officials have held community meetings where residents can help design the park.
The Eastside Regional Park will be located at Montana Avenue and Hueco Club Road, just east of Loop 375.
An initial masterplan was presented to residents in January and were able to vote on certain amenities and priorities for the park.
City officials have revised the plan, according to how residents voted, and will present it Wednesday night at El Dorado High School.
In 2012, voters approved $195 million for park improvements paid for through Quality of Life bonds. The Eastside Regional Park is expected to cost $42 million.
When it is complete, it’s expected to be twice as big as Album Park.
Officials said the park will be completed in three phases.
Residents can look forward to walking and bike trails, an amphitheater, skate and BMX park, swimming pool, community center, flat fields, dog park and a community garden.
The meeting will be held Wednesday night at El Dorado High School from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. The school is located at 12401 Edgemere Boulevard.
