UTEP’s MJ McFarland misses scrimmage with concussion
One player absent from UTEP’s scrimmage on Friday was MJ McFarland.
McFarland has been out with an injury.
“MJ has a concussion and we’ve been following concussion protocol,” UTEP coach Sean Kugler said. “Especially in the spring, it doesn’t make sense to rush a guy back like that. MJ was having an outstanding spring and if we can get him back for this last week, it would be nice.”
The Miners’ spring game will be April 10 at Sun Bowl Stadium.
McFarland completed his degree in three years at Texas and also redshirted a year at Texas.
He has one year of eligibility to play Division 1 football so he transferred to UTEP.
McFarland, a former football standout at El Dorado High School, was the first scholarship player from El Paso to play in a game for the Longhorns since the 1980s.
