1. Watch out for poisonous plants such as sago palm, rhodendron, azalea, oleander, lies, and foxglove are all toxic to pets. Check with your nursery professional for a list of animal safe plants. 2. Fertilizer, coa mulch and compost can be a draw for some pets, they like the aroma. But if ingested, it can cause havoc on the digestive track. So, make sure you follow instructions carefully and supervise your pet when outside for several days after application. 3. Insecticides are often essential in keeping garden plants healthy, but they can cause be life threatening for pets. So, follow instructions carefully and store them in a safe location away from pets. 4. Be sure to put away garden tools when not in use. Rakes, tillers, hoes and trowels can cause trauma to paws, noses and other parts of a curious pet’s body. 5. Fleas and ticks lurk in tall brush and grass so keep your lawns nicely mowed. 6. Allergies. Pets can have allergies too, so if you suspect that your pet has them, consult with your veterinarian for proper treatment.
