ABC-7 learns identities of two teens killed in crash on Zaragoza
The two teens that were killed in a fiery crash on the 600 block of South Zaragoza Road Sunday night are 18-year-old Eric Dominguez and 17-year-old Jacob Salazar.
Family members of both the teen boys confirmed the information at the crash site Monday. Two other teens were injured in the crash. The 18-year-old driver of the 2003 BMW suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is recovering at an El Paso hospital. The one passenger who survived is being treated at a burn center in Lubbock, Texas.
Salazar’s mother said he was the oldest of four children and went to Eastlake High School. A man who arrived at the crash site Monday afternoon told the family he saw the entire wreck happen. He said the BMW jumped a curb, hit a guardrail, rolled, jumped a canal ditch, hit another guardrail, rolled again and then burst into flames before hitting the ground.
Family and friends visited the crash site much of the day Monday to pay their respects to the boys lost. Salazar’s mother told ABC-7 she believed her son barely met the driver the night of the crash.
“It’s really devastating. It’s really sad, honestly, knowing that they came here to the school,” one Americas student said. He said classmates were talking about the wreck at school.
Police haven’t identified the driver or the passenger being treated in a Lubbock burn center.
