Mom of abandoned baby says baby was smuggled into US
who was abandoned in west el paso last week. 26-year-old mayra selene lazos is from mexico. on friday she was taken into custody after she tried to cross using a fake driver’s license from colorado. a check of her fingerprints revealed she is wanted in colorado but under a different name. she’s being held at the el paso county jail. when she was arrested she told officers her baby had been smuggled into the u-s. later that day a 7-month old girl was found in a car seat on the 5- thousand block of conley road. authorities confirmed the baby is lazos’ daughter. the baby is in the custody of child protective services. with the unofficial start of summer
