FBI says ex-LAPD officer wanted in homicide was living with family in Mexico
The FBI has released more details on the capture of Henry Solis, the ex-Los Angeles Police officer wanted in connection with a homicide in California.
Solis, 27, was arrested at about 2 p.m. Tuesday by local police in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Investigators found out information indicating that Solis had been living in the Colonia El Mezquital area with family members.
The FBI says Solis was living in Mexico in violation of Mexican immigration law and was deported to the United States Tuesday evening.
Mexican immigration officials transferred custody of Solis to FBI agents at the border crossing in El Paso, Texas at about 10 p.m. Tuesday.
According to a criminal complaint filed in United States District Court in Los Angeles, Solis was involved in a physical altercation with a man in the downtown district of the city of Pomona on March 13, 2015.
Solis allegedly pursued the man on foot and shot him multiple times, killing him, according to the complaint.
On March 17, 2015, the Pomona Police Department obtained a warrant for Solis’ arrest for murder in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles.
A fugitive investigation was initiated by the FBI’s Fugitive Task Force in Los Angeles after it had been established that Solis had left the jurisdiction of California.
On March 19, 2015, a federal arrest warrant was issued by the United States District Court in the Central District of California (Los Angeles), after Solis was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution (UFAP).
