Ysleta ISD hires new football coach for Eastwood

The Ysleta Independent School District has hired Julio Lopez, a varsity football offensive coordinator and social studies teacher at Socorro High School, to serve as Eastwood High School’s new athletic coordinator and head football coach.

Lopez was previously an assistant football coach at Eastwood.

He begins his new duties at YISD starting May 6.

In 2011, Lopez worked as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at UTEP. From 2012 to 2014, he worked at YISD as a U.S. history teacher and varsity football receiver’s coach/ special teams coordinator at Eastwood High School before taking on his most recent position at Socorro High School.

Lopez holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Texas at El Paso.
